Snare wire length is not a literal measure. Sizing is listed using the same industry standards as "drum size" & "head size".
EXAMPLE - a 14" wire mates with a 14" head, which mates with a 14" drum shell... none of which are literally, exactly 14".

Designed for 14" snare drums, the Concert Series snare wire has 12 strands of specially formulated stainless steel alloy for subtle snare response without choking out the sound of the drum. The snares may be mounted by strap or string.
